What is Craniosacral Therapy?

A gentle approach to healing.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle and effective treatment that helps heal trauma by using very light touch. During a session, the therapist uses skilled touch to sense and identify areas of tension and imbalance throughout the body and nervous system. By providing a calm and supportive presence, the therapist uses specialized techniques to help the body release old patterns and find new ways to relax, heal and restore optimal functionality.

How can craniosacral therapy help heal trauma and the nervous system?

Trauma can deeply affect the central nervous system, which includes the cerebral spinal fluid and it’s movement through the spinal cord, brain stem, midbrain, and prefrontal cortex. These soft tissues are protected by an enclosed fascial system and boney sacrum, spine, and cranial bones. Craniosacral techniques work to release stored tension and trauma in these structures (cranium to sacrum) - helping the nervous system to restore optimal regulation.

What is a craniosacral session like?

During a session, clients may enter a deep, relaxed state, similar to a dream, known as theta. This state, combined with the therapist's gentle touch, helps the nervous system calm down and process past and present stress or trauma. As the body releases stress and reorganizes, clients often experience a greater sense of peace, balance, emotional healing and self connection.
